Seasonal Face Care: How to Adjust Your Routine
Share
As the seasons change, so do the needs of your skin. Here’s how to adjust your face care routine to keep your skin looking its best year-round.
1. Spring: Renew and Refresh
In spring, focus on renewing your skin after the dry winter months. Gentle exfoliation is key to sloughing off dead skin cells and brightening your complexion. Switch to a lighter moisturizer if your skin feels less dry and consider adding a hydrating serum to your routine for an extra boost.
2. Summer: Protect and Hydrate
Summer brings increased sun exposure, so sunscreen is a must. Look for lightweight, oil-free sunscreens with SPF 50, especially if you're outdoors often. Incorporate antioxidant-rich products, like Vitamin C, to protect your skin from free radicals and sun damage. Since you may sweat more, opt for gel-based moisturizers that won’t clog your pores.
3. Fall: Repair and Strengthen
As the temperatures cool, it’s time to repair any summer damage. Focus on hydration and strengthening your skin barrier with ingredients like ceramides and hyaluronic acid. You may also want to reintroduce gentle retinoids or exfoliants to fade any pigmentation from sun exposure.
4. Winter: Moisturize and Nourish
In winter, dry air and indoor heating can strip moisture from your skin. Switch to a richer moisturizer that locks in hydration. Consider adding facial oils with ingredients like jojoba or argan oil to deeply nourish the skin. Don’t forget to keep up with sunscreen, as UV rays are still present even in winter.
